Understanding Trauma and the Loss of Inner Power

⚠️ WHAT IS TRAUMA?

Trauma is the result of being made to feel powerless within yourself.

It occurs when you are unable to stop a harmful, dangerous or threatening experience from happening.

đź–¤ THE CORE OF TRAUMA

Trauma is:

  • Not being able to stop someone from harming you or your loved ones

  • Feeling powerless to protect yourself

  • Being unable to leave a dangerous or threatening environment

When your safety is threatened and you cannot protect yourself, your system shifts into survival.


Trauma is the result in being made to feel powerless within yourself.

đź§  WHEN SURVIVAL TAKES OVER

The human system is designed to survive.

When you cannot protect yourself against threat — physical, emotional or psychological —this becomes deeply traumatising.

This is why trauma runs so deep.

⚠️ THE IMPACT OF TRAUMA

Trauma can lead to:

  • Loss of self trust

  • Loss of self belief

  • Feeling powerless and out of control

  • Fear and internalised shame

This shame can become so overwhelming that you begin to disconnect from yourselfto avoid feeling the pain.

đź”— DISCONNECTION AND ATTACHMENT TO THREAT

In order to survive, you may:

  • Disconnect from yourself

  • Attach or adapt to the threat

This happens in an attempt to stay safe.

Especially when:

  • You cannot escape

  • You depend on the person for survival

This is particularly common in childhood, where survival depends on caregivers.

⚠️ DEPENDENCY AND VULNERABILITY

Trauma is also created when you are forced to rely on someone for survival —especially if that person is harmful or predatory.

This is why:

Self reliance and self empowerment are essential to both survival and inner peace.

🛑 THE REAL TRAUMA

The true trauma is:

  • Not being able to protect yourself

  • Not being able to provide for yourself

  • Not being able to rely on yourself

  • Not being able to leave a harmful environment

The longer you remain in a threatening environment,the deeper the trauma becomes.

🌿 THE PATH TO HEALING

Healing begins with:

1. Safety

Removing yourself from the dangerous environment

2. Self Reliance

Learning to provide for yourself and meet your own needs

3. Reconnection

Reconnecting with yourself — your body, your mind and your inner voice

Through this process, you begin to:

  • Trust yourself again

  • Rely on yourself

  • Feel empowered within yourself

This is where true healing begins.
